The One-Stop Business & Career Center is a partnership between the County of Nevada and the Job Training Center whose mission is to provide unlimited employment opportunities to job seekers and hiring, training and human resource assistance to local businesses.
Job seekers visit the Career Center to create resumes, search jobs online, practice interview skills, create a job search plan, understand the local labor market and be aware of opportunities for internships, on-the-job trainings and special programs offered under specific grants. The goal is that local businesses will post their jobs with One-Stop, creating a local hub connecting job seekers to businesses seeking talent.
Business services include candidate recruitment, pre-screening, human resources support, interview assistance and staff training, referrals, market information and labor law updates.
One-Stop offers several hiring programs for businesses including On-the-Job Training (OJT). If you’re considering hiring a new, full time employee, and your staff has the time and training ability to onboard, instruct and mentor a new hire, then consider an OJT. With an OJT, the business hires an employee and is subsidized up to 50% of the wages during a specific time period (determined by the candidate’s training needs, usually several months). Positions must be permanent, require at least four weeks of in-house training, and pay a minimum of $10 per hour.
If you’re interested in hiring soon, contact Christine Hoxsie, Staffing Specialist, at 265.7093 to discuss One-Stop’s services and how we can assist you.
