Welcome to the Penn Valley Area Chamber of Commerce
The Penn Valley Area Chamber of Commerce (PVACOC) was established in 1979 with the purpose of promoting and protecting business and commerce in the Penn Valley area. While business and commerce are our primary focus, we also take an active and important role advocating on behalf of our community in general. With over 130 business and supporter members, the PVACOC is continually adding and enhancing member benefits and programs. One such program is our popular and well-attended monthly “Business for Breakfast” networking meetings. The PVACOC also participates in many business mixers and ribbon cutting ceremonies throughout the year. Business mixers are held almost monthly at member businesses and provide chamber members with an opportunity to mix and mingle with other local businesses and members of the community.
The PVACOC is proud of our involvement in many community programs, events, and sponsorships that benefit all of Western Nevada County. The annual Joanie Bumpus Daffodil Run, Easter Egg Hunt, Penn Valley Rodeo and Rodeo Parade, Roots and Wings Foundation Wine Cruise and Golf Tournament, Rotary Fall Festival, SYRPA Fall Festival, and Martines Family Cowboy Christmas, are just a few of the events the Penn Valley Area Chamber of Commerce supports to help the community. And in 2015 the PVACOC established the Penn Valley Area Chamber of Commerce Business Scholarship. The scholarship will be awarded each year to a local Penn Valley graduating high school senior pursuing a college degree in business. Another program started in 2015 was the reestablishment of the Penn Valley Area JUNIOR Chamber of Commerce. The Junior Chamber is a program run through the Penn Valley schools to give students a “hands on” opportunity to learn about local business and events through active participation in the inner workings. The PVACOC’s Junior Chamber program is the presently the only one of its kind in Nevada County.
The PVACOC maintains an active office and visitor center located at 17422 Penn Valley Drive, in the Penn Valley Shopping Center. The staff assists visitors and people interested in visiting or relocating to the area, often with the idea of retiring. Lake Wildwood, a gated community in Penn Valley with 2841 member lots and a population of more than 5,000, is especially popular with retirees. Calls are fielded on a variety of topics such as local and regional events, business referrals, questions about medical and transportation services and much more.
